Glass Express Midlands invests in next gen arrisser

Glass Express Midlands has upgraded its manufacturing operations with the installation of a new CMS Aura arrisser, supplied and installed by machinery specialist, Lamberts.
The £350,000 investment is part of the company’s strategy to improve efficiency and sustainability across its Oldbury site. The CMS Aura reportedly consumes 73% less energy than the machine it replaces, while also delivering enhanced edge processing accuracy.
Designed for high-volume production, the new arrisser incorporates dry-seaming technology that removes the need for water while integrating a dust extraction system to create a cleaner, safer working environment.
Automatic handling of varying glass thicknesses and flap-disc tooling enables consistent edge finishing, reducing micro-fractures and minimising the need for reworks. A 21.5-inch operator panel with intuitive dashboard controls simplifies operation, while its capacity to process glass sheets up to 6m supports a wide range of customer requirements.
“The CMS Aura represents a step forward in both quality and efficiency,” said Arun Photay, Glass Express Midlands managing director. “Its energy consumption is almost three quarters lower than the machine it replaces, which is a clear environmental gain, but just as important are the benefits for customers – more precise edges, fewer imperfections, and stronger overall product performance.”
“Every investment we make is assessed not just on output, but on long-term responsibility.
“Our new arrisser delivers measurable energy savings while enabling us to maintain consistently high quality. That combination is vital for our customers and for meeting our environmental commitments.”
