Crittall achieves major CO₂ emissions reduction

Steel window and door manufacturer Crittall Windows has announced a significant reduction in its carbon footprint, achieving a 29% decrease in market-based CO₂ emissions during 2024 compared with the previous year.
The independent assessment, carried out by emissions management experts Carbon Footprint, confirmed total market-based emissions fell from 786.56 tonnes to 529.11 tonnes of CO₂e. Emissions per employee and per £M turnover also dropped by 26% and 28% respectively. As a result, Crittall has qualified to use the ‘Carbon Footprint Standard’ branding across its communications, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to responsible carbon management.
The reductions follow sustained investment and practical improvements across the business. Crittall has introduced a fully electric/hybrid vehicle fleet, installed solar panels at its Witham manufacturing site, upgraded to energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the offices and fabrication plant, and improved material utilisation to reduce waste.
Working with Carbon Footprint, the company has set clear targets for continued progress, aiming for a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030 and 90% by 2045.
Russell Ager, managing director of Crittall Windows, said: “This achievement reflects a company-wide effort to operate more sustainably. Reducing our carbon footprint is an ongoing commitment, embedded in the way we design, manufacture and deliver our products.
“Every department, from production to logistics, has contributed to these results, and we will continue to build on this progress as we move towards our 2030 and 2045 goals.”
