Support for Installers

Andy Ball, managing director of Balls2 Marketing, talks about installer support schemes.

I’ve just come back from a training session run by one of our fabricator clients. It’s one of many we’ve been involved in organising recently as we see fabricators looking to help their installer customers get ahead.

We work with lots of installers that are really switched on to the market and always looking for ways to improve their professionalism and stand out from the competition. Whether it’s tiled conservatory roofs or aluminium wide-span lift and slide doors, to make the most of these growth opportunities, installers are looking for an extra level of support.

We’ve got years of experience in developing installer schemes so we know what support installation companies are looking for: lead generation, literature to pass onto homeowners, easy ordering, and a bit of a hand if they come across any problems on site.

First stop is training. You might be surprised how many installers will take time out to come and see the right way to fit a bifold or install a solid roof system. It gives them peace of mind for their job and extra credibility – especially if you back the training up with a certificate.

Literature is next. No matter how digital we get, homeowners still love to flick through a brochure to check out their options. Make sure it’s on-brand, up-to-date and shows all the options you offer. We’ve also seen great response from direct mail recently. I think because it stands out to homeowners now that we get less post and more email.

Facebook is the best social media platform for installers, and it offers great ROI for companies on limited budgets.

Online window designers and ordering come in handy too. Remember that installers are doing quotes in the evening and at weekends, so being able to get accurate quotes straight away means they have more chance of winning the job there and then.

For fabricators, it’s all about creating a simple package to help installers hit the ground running with great new products.
