Supporting local community sport

Haffner, which has been the club sponsor for its local football team Stone Old Alleynians for a number of years, recently supported two local sporting initiatives.

The first is a five-figure investment in new floodlights for the team’s ground, Kings Park.

Managing director Dave Thomas said: “Stone Old Alleynians currently play at step five in the Midland League Premier Division. The club’s long-term aim is to become a sustainable football club, providing a pathway for girls and boys to play football as high up the footballing pyramid as possible. The investment in the local community allows these ambitions to become a reality and will inspire the next generation of Alleynians.”

Haffner also funded free football sessions for Stone’s children in the summer holidays. The scheme allowed hundreds of boys and girls to get into football and has led to the creation of over 20 new youth teams.

“Exercise is really important for mental and physical health and wellbeing, perhaps even more so in light of the stresses and strains of the past 18 months,” Dave said. “It’s great to see our support helping so many kids see the benefits.

“We’re proud to be based in Stone and to be able to support our local community in this way.”
