60+ years of service

Three employees of a Stoke-on-Trent window company have racked up 63 years’ service between them.

Target Windows, based in Meir Heath, has branches in Stone and Uttoxeter and is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

Ken Roberts, from Stone, has worked for the company for 25 years after starting as a sales advisor.

The 68-year-old is now semi-retired and assists the current sales team. He said: “The customers have become much more discerning and the range of products offered now means the sales team have to have far more product knowledge.

“I wouldn’t change anything because I enjoy my job and working for a family-run company.”

Showroom assistant Brenda Parkes, 59, from Uttoxeter, has served Target Windows for 20 years and is so dedicated to the company that many call her Mrs Target.

She said: “I will go out of my way to help people choose the right product for their needs and requirements. You could say I’m like a stick of rock – cut me in half and it will say Target Windows all the way through.”

Mark Underwood, 51, from Meir Hay, has worked for the company for 18 years as a surveyor. His role now also includes running the building works related to conservatories and home extensions.

He said: “I enjoy working with a fantastic team, who are always there to help and back you up with any situation. They are not just work colleagues, but good friends and I am proud to have been involved and to have seen how the company has grown to what it is now.”
