Homeowners considering a bifold or sliding door as part of renovations

More than two-thirds of homeowners are considering home renovations in the lead up to summer, with more than half eyeing up bifold doors.

Research undertaken by Leeds-based Express Bi-Folding Doors found that 57% of respondents said that a bifolding door would be their ideal product, while 31% chose sliding doors.

The survey revealed that 70% of people are looking to do some home renovations prior to the summer, with 73% of people voting spring as the best time to renovate to ensure their homes are ready for outdoor entertainment.

Steve Bromberg, managing director at Express Bi-Folding Doors, said: “The summer is just around the corner, and with the government roadmap providing light at the end of the tunnel, there seems a definite desire to really make the most of the warmer months this year.

“We have a fantastic summer of sport ahead, and I know that many people will want to enjoy that from the comfort of their own garden, looking to host their friends and families for what will hopefully be a much more positive sunny season.

“We have seen a big upturn is customers preparing for the warmer months with the installation of bifold doors; between December and February, we achieved nearly 25% above our target forecast for what is usually our quietest quarter. Sales were up 22% on the same three-month period last year.”

Getting a redesign can also considerably increase a property’s value, according to Linley and Simpson Estate Agents.

“We’ve seen bifold and sliding doors increasing a property’s saleability and increasing sale prices as a result, which is great news for homeowners looking to add value during their renovation projects,” Brad Ogden, head of residential sales, said.
