Shift to larger IGUs

Bohle has said that the specification of larger insulated glass units, and the challenges of their onsite handling, prompted high levels of interest in its LiftMaster B1 manual lifting device at this year’s FIT Show.

With a compact design and handling weights of up to 180kg, the LiftMaster B1 has been designed to combine the safe and secure movement of glass units, with maximum flexibility – packing down to fit inside an estate car.

Designed to be used with or without an electric pump, it delivers exceptional versatility, while a dual circuit vacuum system, reserve tanks, vacuum display and secondary vacuum indicator, ensure that it guarantees the highest levels of safety.

Lance Conway, technical sales representative, Bohle, said: “The LiftMaster B1 attracted a lot of interest. Installers are having to handle bigger units and doing that safely can be challenging.

“The LiftMaster B1 meets all current regulations and restrictions governing the movement of glass on site – we actually used it here at the NEC to move our own glass into place – while delivering a high level of manoeuvrability.”

Alongside the LiftMaster B1 Bohle also showcased its base rail balustrading system. Fully tested to BS6180:2011, the EasyMount Vario is suitable for floor or lateral mounting, supporting fast and easy installation.

It delivers variable glass adjustment via a moveable base shoe. Accommodating glass thickness of 12mm to 21.52mm, combined with simple fitting requirements, it cuts installation time by as much as 30% over comparable systems, the company said.
