Joining the family business

Lisa Lockhart, who works at Business Micros’Penpont HQ, is the latest member of staff to feature in the company’s 40th anniversary campaign, which is highlighting the contribution of key employees.

Lisa’s brother, Vince Kelly, has also featured in the campaign.

Lisa is the accounts administrator and while hers might not perhaps be a familiar name or face to many, she is the person who helps to maintain Business Micros’ reputation for paying people on time. She is responsible for all purchase and sales invoices and has been a member of the team since 2005, joining 21 years after Vince.

Lisa said: “I saw how happy Vince was working here so when this opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance. I’m still here 14 years later, primarily because this is such a friendly and supportive working environment and really does have a genuine family feel. What I like most about the job is the fact that Business Micros is a company which always aims to treat customers, suppliers and staff fairly and ethically. Those values definitely chime with me and make me proud to be part of the team.”

In recent years the Penpont office in particular has expanded considerably, with additional programmers and software developers joining the business to work on the next generation Infinity software that launched at the FIT Show.

This, Lisa said, has created a more dynamic workplace with a buzz.

She said: “The Infinity products have got everybody excited and after the fantastic response to the FIT Show, we’re already seeing customers signing up to be the first to use Capture, Showroom and Register. That means more sales invoices for me of course but we make the whole purchasing and payment process so easy for customers now that once their direct debit is set up, they can relax and know that we’ll take care of everything for them.”
