Balustrades take the limelight

Modern and elegant glass balustrades, supplied by TuffX, have helped a private residence in Muswell Hill in north London modernise its looks.

Featuring exposed brickwork to the ground and first floor, with a second floor clad in vertical timber boards, floor-to-ceiling windows ensure that the interior of the property is flooded with natural light.

An internal staircase, which leads to the first floor and three bedrooms, then on to the top floor and a kitchen and leisure room, has also been designed to further promote the light and space, thanks to the addition of the centrepiece glass balustrades from TuffX.

The stair and landing balustrades were manufactured with 17.52mm, toughened and laminated glass, and secured with specialist adapters to maximise the large, uninterrupted areas of glass.

Graham Price, managing director at TuffX, said: “The project at Muswell Hill was certainly an impressive one, and a fantastic example of how glass balustrades can play a key role in a stylish and contemporary home. At TuffX, we are experiencing increasing demand for our laminated glass, as it provides the strength and stability of our toughened offering, combined with improved safety should a breakage occur as the broken shards will remain in place.”
