Happy ever rafter

It was a case of sink or swim as a team from Window Ware took part in Bedford’s river festival raft race to raise money for Bedford Hospitals Charity, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Despite having to battle scorching temperatures, super soakers and plenty of rivalry from the other rafts, the Window Ware team managed to keep their cool and stay afloat to cross the finish line.

One of the crew members, Laura Mooney, said: “We took a proper pelting and other teams tried to take us out of the competition by flooding the hull. Thankfully our ingenious raft builders had packed our raft with plenty of polystyrene which proved too buoyant to sink.”

Window Ware’s managing director Samantha Nuckey said: “The crew came under fire from all sides but held firm and they did the company proud. It’s very important for us to support the community whenever we can, and it has been brilliant to be part of such a popular and fun community event.”
