Returning employee

Fenster Fabrications has welcomed the return of a senior member of staff after a four-year hiatus.

Alex Cook has re-joined the Newton Abbott-based fabricator as contracts manager, tasked with overseeing the firm’s growing customer base, while taking responsibility for aspects of the firm’s marketing and other vital areas of the business.

Skilled in CAD drawing as well as customer service and contract management, Alex studied an architecture degree at the University of Plymouth, before joining Fenster fresh from graduation in 2010.

“I spent four years studying architecture, so naturally I was looking for vacancies in architectural practices,” Alex said. “I found an advert for a job at a company called ‘Fenster Architectural Glazing’ – but it wasn’t until I got to the interview that I realised it wasn’t an architectural firm at all, but a window and door company.

“It’s the best mistake I ever made. I absolutely loved working for Fenster. After three years as technical co-ordinator, my personal circumstances changed, and I had to move out of the area, but now I’m delighted to be back, and getting to grips with a new role at one of the most exciting periods in the company’s history.”

Fenster’s managing director Tony Drake said: “I’m delighted to have Alex back on the team. During his first spell at Fenster, he was invaluable – his architectural background not only meant he was extremely skilled at technical drawing, but also that he could offer real insight into the needs and priorities of our customers.”
